I uploaded a show four days ago, and can still see it on the server in my ftp client. But it's not listed under "Tasks not completed" on the Contribution Center page, which has the message "server readonly - waiting for harddrive fix." I've been waiting, but after four days I'm starting to wonder. Is it really down or what?

It's probably not down...a lot of people misread the key on that page. The server is only down if the server number itself is highlighted in yellow.

What's the identifier of the show?

With my upload not appearing anywhere in the contribution center that yellow box seemed to be the only message I was getting.

Anyway... I can't find the show id since LMA doesn't seem to know it exists other than the fact my ftp client shows it sitting on item-upload.archive.org under /sjb2009-05-16.mtx.flac16.

I was surprised to find though that when I just tried the http uploader, that identifier was free and it began uploads. It's as if the entry and its identifier vanished from LMA's records.

Is this because I shouldn't be using ftp?

How did you create that folder on the FTP to begin with, or did you just open up item-uploads.archive.org and place the folder there?

There is a workaround way of creating an LMA-based identifier through FTP but I think it's a loophole rather than an officially-sanctioned way of doing things. The identifier isn't "locked" for you now until you do your first metadata entry.

It's possible I just created the folder... I'll delete it and stick with http uploads - seems to be the way we have to go anyway. Thanks.
